eCOGRA urges online casinos to act responsible PDF Print E-mail
In news related to the recent online gambling bill passed recently in the United States, eCOGRA – the online gambling regulation and assurance non profit organization, has issued a call to online casinos to continue and act with responsibility and professionally towards in spite of the new law and the new doubts which it arises.

After the the approval of the online gambling bill by the U.S Senate and House of Representatives several big name online gambling companies announced that the will stop offering their services to U.S based customers as soon as the bill is signed into law by the U.S government. While the U.S government might see it as an accomplishment, the current concern is that new online casinos will try to take the place of those who have pulled out which opens the market to the uncertainty of new, unregulated online gambling sites.

According the eCOGRA CEO Andrew Beveridge, he is concerned that the new legislation will cause rouge and unregulated online casinos to replace the ones that have decided to abandon certain territories, exposing players to the dangers of having the integrity of the games and their fund at risk.

"Professional and integrity-driven conduct to best practice standards by properly monitored online gambling establishments is critical to the future success of the industry," Beveridge said. He urges online casinos to join online casino watchdog organizations such as eCOGRA to ensure their clients that their service continues to be of the highest standards. eCOGRA currently list 112 online casinos who carry its “Play It Safe” seal of approval. The gambling sites listed by eCOGRA are guaranteed to be working under the highest standards and have gone through rigorous testing in order to be included in the list.

eCOGRA expects its members to stick to the high standards of service which have characterized them since their inclusion in the list of the “Play It Safe”  casinos: “"Our members and sealholders will continue to offer efficient and respectful service to all players permitted by the laws where they reside to gamble online." Beveridge added.

eCOGRA has also expressed its opinion that a regulation of the online gambling industry is a much better solution to protect online players than the complete banning of online gambling: “Our concern is that prohibition rarely works and could allow unregulated operators to take advantage of decent people who have no recourse to a controlling authority," he said.
